The CYCA offers its members and visitors a wide array of sailing formats from which to choose. Those who enjoy sailing in company to an idyllic location and rafting up with other club members over dinner make up CYCA cruising, a group of club members who regularly meet to hear guest speakers and to plan fun day or weekend trips. Mount Gay Monday Twilight Series and St Arnou Wednesday SeriesIf you enjoy social sailing, the Mount Gay Monday Twilight Series (spinnaker) and St. Arnou Wednesday Twilight Series (non-spinnaker) are ideal. The St. Arnou Wednesday Twilight Series attracts more than 100 yachts each week and is the perfect mid-week break, a twilight sail around Sydney Harbour followed by a prize giving. The perfect place to have dinner is on the CYCA’s deck during the warm summer months.

Weekend SailingWeekend sailing in summer is also available in a number of different formats – Short Ocean Pointscore, Ocean Pointscore and Short Haul Pointscore. Audi Winter Series From April to July, the CYCA runs the Audi Winter Series, with fleets regularly reaching 150 every Sunday. An Audi Winter Series race can be a full day out with a cooked breakfast on the club’s deck to start the day followed by the spinnaker race on Sydney Harbour with a prizegiving to close out the day. Blue Water Pointscore For the serious ocean racer, the Blue Water Pointscore offers seven long ocean races over nine months of the year with the highlight being the annual Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. A good result in the RSHYR is imperative to a boats BWPS campaign as it is a non-discardable race.
Crewing in racesOpportunities exist for persons interested in participating as crew members during the Summer Twilight sailing and the prestigious Audi Winter Series. The CYCA operates a crew whiteboard in the bar during these races, whereby prospective crew or boats requiring crew can place their name on the board. During twilights and the Audi Winter Series, there are often quite a number of boats who are looking for an extra pair of hands for the race. For crew opportunities throughout Summer and the major offshore races, interested sailors should familiarize themselves with the information on Crewing available by clicking the link on the left hand menu bar.
Learn to SailIf you want to learn to sail but you aren't sure where to start, the CYCA can recommend a highly experienced sailing school located near the club itself.
